“Racing in F1 with 19 other best drivers on the grid gives you great inspiration,” he said. “Having a chance to run in your best and a great boost to show what you are capable.

“Of course, seeing what Max has done in the last few years – especially in his crooks – was quite surprising. So there is definitely a model that I inspire.

“But in the end, racing against the best is a great chance. And as a person like George, as a team-mate really helps you improve.

“It is also down to George – this result – because they have helped me develop and advance myself during this first part of the season.”

Vastapane, who was just 17 years old, when he selected his first F1 session in the FP1 in the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, says Antoneley has a bright future ahead of him.
