We searched for the latest version of the Google Play Store (version 43.9.17-31) and found that the store may offer a “Set as watch face” button after installing a watch face through your phone. We were able to activate the button, but it doesn’t work properly right now. See screenshot below.
This is a huge improvement over the Play Store on Wear OS, which offers a toggle to automatically set the watch face after install. This isn’t ideal because you might want to install the watch face and try it out later. So being able to tap the “Set as watch face” button through the Play Store on your phone will give you more control in this regard.
This button will also be useful if you want to change the new watch face, but your wearable device is not nearby (for example, charging or in your bag). So we hope Google brings this feature to Play Store soon.
