The Cadillac Formula 1 program has named Graeme Lowden as team principal of the new team ahead of its entry in 2026.
The American brand will join the grid for the new era of regulations after F1 was presented with a reworked package after more than a year of trying.
Lowden, who previously served as CEO for the Virgin/Marussia/Manor F1 organization and also led Manor to the World Endurance Championship, was given the team’s leading role to help lay the foundation for the championship’s 11th team. Has been.
The 59-year-old Briton was part of an earlier unsuccessful bid between the GM and Andretti F1, headed by Michael Andretti, which was accepted by governing body the FIA, but F1 itself refused entry because the bid was not deemed to add enough value Was. For the series.
Andretti stepped back from the project earlier this year and handed control to majority owner TWG Global, whose CEO Dan Torris was largely responsible for reworking GM’s proposals after coming to the helm.
“I believe Formula 1 is the greatest team sport in the world, and teams are all about people. This is a team that has a true love of racing and a desire to go racing and we have the experience and expertise to do that,” said Lowden.
“Racing is at the core of everything we do. That’s what I want to see in a team, and I really want to be a part of it. I don’t underestimate the task that lies ahead and I have the heart for it. Great respect. I’m looking forward to the challenge of racing.”
