Gilian Murphy left it on stage


While Murphy is famous for her technical skills, it is her emotional intelligence that attracted her to dance as a child. “Some people have a different approach, a more academic approach to the steps, and I think (McCroo) and I am aligned in the fact that there are driving forces of music and storytelling choreography,” she says.

Remembering him for the first time dancing Swan LakeMurphy says, “I was not sure if I also knew what I was doing, but I felt that I was going with my intuition and just feeling music and story as much as possible. It was just raw energy and there was not much awareness about some technical and artistic types of options.”

His understanding of a character is deep with every performance. She says, “When I go out on the stage, I like the feeling of change. There is a lot about me which is clearly in it, but I really step into her world,” she says. “The feeling of being in that region, bringing their inner world into life, is special and something that I really remember.”

Back to the studio, Murphy tries some Swan -like kartis for McCrocko. “At a certain point, you no longer want to be a swan,” McCero tells him. “You are. Be Gilian.”
