From Europe to America: Why Dennis Hazar focuses on Indicar

Dennis HazorThe career trajectory taken by several Formula 1 optimist to win several carting titles before graduating in the F1 feeder series is taken by several Formula 1 Hopfools. There, he became an Italian F4 champion before winning the 2021 F3 title, with Prema (defeating the current Alpine F1 driver Jack Dohan). He went to win several F2 races and even earned a runner-up finish in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix.

But after three years in Formula 2, Hazar adopted a new route, which sets its set on Indycar. This is a step that has exceeded a general trend in recent years, with many emerging stars from the above junior divisions towards US open-wheel racing, with how narrow the route to the 20-driver F1 grid is. Hauger is now from that group, signing with Andretti Global for 2025 Indy NXT season.

Find a new house

“We were looking at different things going in the 2025 season,” Hauger explained in a special interview with Motorsport.com. “But quite quick, I was so, well, if we are not targeting directly for F1 … and going to our (fourth) season in F2, what will happen after that? We were also looking at Indycar, but I think I think is coming from Europe, going to America, you don’t have the same name. We do not have the same name. We do not have a budget like some other people.

“Just going to the indie NXT, which seemed to be a really good chain, and you get to learn style and style and mentality in the US and also prove itself for this chain and community, so it was thought behind it. At the end of the day, you really feel good. America.”

The Norwegian racer said that it was the best option for him to create that it was a “really a difficult choice”, assuming that America’s move. This also helps when you get a chance to link with the historical Andreti team for the switch. To navigate the changes in scenes, Hazar has so far worked well, despite never looking at the track before winning his beginning in St. Peat. And it was not just a bumpy street circuit, which he had a habit, but a lighter and slow Indie NXT car, all processes of US race weekends, rolling begins and more. And it helps that he found the Indy NXT car to fit his driving style slightly more than the F2 car, it is called more ‘natural’ fit.

But Hauger is on a tight program and therefore, such initial success is necessary. “I know that this season I have a goal and this championship is to win. I am probably not getting two years in this series. I am going to get a year and it’s to prove myself.”

But the biggest thing for him is that most European racers in the US have to face … competing on oval tracks. He tasted a test in Nashville earlier this year and for his credit, Hazar was not intimidated as some racers were in the past.

“Just terrible,” he said about the experience. “It was different. Especially the way you were running against each other. You are actually creating speed to use slipstream and dirty air. This is the biggest difference of going into elliptics. But the bus is going on the track and the flat is going out – it was quite good. You feel like a superhero. You are feeling very good when you are driving around a flat. There was a good day from. “

One year plan

With the Hauger scheme for just one year in Indy NXT, does it mean that he expects to be on Indycar grid in 2026? It seems that it is so.

Hazar said, “The plan is to do one year, no matter how much it is.” “It is likely that I have this time. It is in this year and the goal is to clearly get an indycar seat for the next season. Yet a long way is to go, but trying to win the championship is the main goal.”

He also said that when he would not definitely be away from a chance to join the F1 grid, “I am completely committed to Indy NXT and Indicar. Just trying to run it with Andreti and am maximizing myself and can prove myself. And then take it from there.”

Indycar vs Formula 1

It is a common theme among fans and people working within two series. Therefore, naturally, both participated in, Hazar also sometimes took a nuances on the controversial debate.

“When I look at F1 and Indycar, I don’t see Indycar as a cool series,” Hauger told Motorsport.com. “This is more good, if anything. If you find a high level of fighting and close competition and drivers. It’s crazy. And you have found a little more aspects with oval, road courses, street courses. The chain that is expanding in the last few years and is actually going to be a high -level series – it’s even more than before.”

Hauger has also spoken in the hope of making the infection with many drivers and industry as smooth as possible. The former among them is F1 driver and 2022 Indi 500 winner Marcus Ericsson as well as fellow Norwegian Racer Anders Krohan, who initially helped to come in contact with Andratey.

While he is an early championship leader, it is still a long season for Hazar. Almost each track is completely new to him, including four oval that creates a 14-rescue schedule. But if he can meet his goal and take the title, his mission is likely to be a reality to be a part of the 2026 Indycar grid.
