With the famous Sundance Film Festival starting this week in Park City, Utah, Adobe thought it was a good time to discuss what’s next for Adobe Premiere Pro, a popular video editing tool for amateur and professional filmmakers. There is a platform.
No matter what their experience level, all video editors deal with some of the same problems, including finding clips, transcribing or translating footage, waiting for the software to catch up, and dealing with complex color spaces. Work is included. Adobe hopes to resolve all of these issues with new beta releases for Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Frame.io.
In Premiere Pro beta, Adobe uses new artificial intelligence (AI) to help video editors find what they need faster than ever.
“With the new Media Intelligence and Search panel in Premiere Pro (Beta), the power of AI helps you find exactly what you need, when you need it,” Adobe explains in a new blog post,
Premiere Pro automatically analyzes the content of the user’s clips and recognizes objects, locations, camera angles, and more. Within the new search panel, users can find certain visuals, specific spoken words, or information within embedded metadata using natural language queries. For example, someone could search “closeup of person running at sunset” and Premiere Pro will find that clip. Or one can search “California” and see all the clips with associated scenes, transcript mentions, and embedded location metadata. Adobe says this all happens on the device, so users don’t need an Internet connection to use media analytics and new discovery.
Premiere Pro is also getting caption translation. At the moment, it works with 17 languages, although it’s a safe bet that more will be added later. It also supports multi-language caption tracks so that multiple languages can appear on the screen simultaneously.
Moving to After Effects, Adobe is focusing on performance improvements. After Effects (Beta) features a new and improved caching system that uses both the computer’s RAM and high-performance disk to preview and playback large, complex projects faster than ever before. The previous version was particularly dependent on RAM, so adding disk resources should significantly speed up playback in After Effects.
HDR monitoring is also available in After Effects with support for PQ and HLG video.
Adobe video editing wheel, Frame.io, jumping on the last bandwagon of camera to cloud, is now available for select Canon cameras. It was announced in Adobe MAX 2024 and now Canon EOS C80 And c400 Cinema cameras work natively with Frame.io’s Camera to Cloud feature. Adobe also said that Premiere Pro also supports RAW video files from these cameras.
