FIA announced Rao’s shock return as advisor to Ben Sulem

Shaila-N Rao has returned to the FIA ​​as the world governing body has confirmed his appointment as the President’s advisor for motorsport.

It marks another post for Rao, which previously worked as a legal director for the FIA ​​between 2016-2018 and as an interim general secretary for motorsport for a five-month spell in 2022.

His initial return saw his move in a role vacated by Peter Bare after a term working in Mercedes, who led the investigation at the end of the controversial 2021 championship of Formula 1.

Rao worked on a cost cap probe in Red Bull, a controversial call gave her a previous association with rivals Mercedes, and she duly departed at the end of the 2022 season, accusing Ben Suleyam of misconduct before the report came out.

“FIA President, Mohammad Ben Sulem, appointed Shaila-N Rao as the President’s advisor,” an FIA statement said.

“Ms. Rao will advise the FIA ​​President on several issues including regulators and commercial matters related to the seven FIA World Championships. He will initiate his role on 1 May 2025.

“Ms. Rao is a dual -worthy lawyer, being both an English Solicitor and a French lawyer, admitted in the Paris bar and has an important experience in global motor sports.

Rao will now act as an advisor to Ben Sulem, who has given rise to controversies in recent times as he tries to re -eleg as FIA President.

Two years ago, the Daily Telegraph reported that Ben Sulem was recently facing new allegations of sexualism and bullying from the late Rao, which is now working with the President.
