“I really don’t care, it’s in the eighth place – so it’s fine, he can enjoy that P8.”
Charles Lakeler’s Post-Radio Herruumf in Baku takes into account the classic episode of the British TV series come Dine With Me In which one of the losing contestants spoiled his defeat in a brilliant way: “You live, enjoy the money. I hope it makes you very happy. I hope you will spend it on getting some lessons in grace and decoration.”
Leclerc started before him Ferrari Formula 1 Team-Mate Lewis Hamilton Despite the ability to crash, but an intermittent issue with energy recovery in the hybrid system of his power unit meant that he could not rely on a complete boost in every lap. He also raised early (Lap 19) to defend against a potential undercut. Lando NorisBut this committed it to a long second term on mediums.
So after Hamilton made his stop on Lap 36, he was able to use his tire life offset at home on his team partner.
At this point, Lakeler got excited and demanded that engineer Brian Bozi updated him on Hamilton’s lap time, but later agreed to order a team to take his team partner to the past on Lap 42.
“Confusion? No,” the team’s principal Fred Vasasur said. “I think the situation was clear for us that Lewis had benefited from the tire and we told Charles to try to overtake him from Lawson and Sunanoda or Noris. Charles had an issue with recovery and we are not at the top of the engine and I think I think it was the best option for us to do this step.
“We asked to swap back and it seems that Lewis had a misunderstanding about the Start and Finnish line position.”

However the appearance of it appeared in the beginning Isac Hadzar Two seconds behind Lakeler were a contribution factor, Hamilton’s interpretation was that he was further “in the zone” on the car – Noris – even if he had a less chance to overtake him.
“Originally, I had raised straight and really broke, but I remembered it like four-tenth, so it was just a misunderstanding,” he said. “So I apologize to Charles.”
The result was more disappointing for Ferrari because both drivers felt that they had the speed in the merit to go to the pole. But the two decreased in the important session, Hamilton tricky C6 failed to maximize the capacity of soft tires and lakeler hitting the wall in Q3.
Car performance convergence and better rear-wing efficiency have reduced the impact of DRS, so starting in 10th and 12th always involves a long slogan through traffic, while people moving forward in clear air can manage their tires more effectively.
“I think the speed was fine,” said Vasasur. “The issue is that, well, two different situations: Charles, he was an issue on the engine – it was not five tenth one lap, but it was enough to spend its week behind anyone and could not move forward.
“And then the cost is not two tenth that you are losing on the engine, this is the difference with two tenth and the car in front of you. This, for Charles, I think there was a lot, but at the end of the day, the conclusion of this is true for us, it is true for Noris – that if we were not yesterday (Saturdays), it was not today.
“Today we started behind the Noris, we ended behind the Noris, this is more. It’s more yesterday. I think we were able to fight for P1 in all independent exercises, and ended (qualifying) P10 and P12.”
