feeling stuck? Find hidden gems for your next shoot

Have you ever had trouble finding new places to take photos and felt like you had run out of places around you? Dylan Blackburn has some great tips for exploring new places.

In this short video, Dylan Blackburn shares some great ways to help you find new places to photograph. He has mentioned that he doesn’t like feeling stuck at home, not taking pictures and just seeing his camera sitting on the side. He also finds that the longer he stays at home and doesn’t take pictures, the less motivated he will be. I think we’ve all been there. How does one find new places to photograph? He says he will jump in the car and drive off in the bad direction. By abandoning the highways and hitting the backroads, he thinks you’ll find some of the most interesting places to take photos, although it can be difficult to decide which direction to go.

The best tool to find out is google mapsWhen he looks at small towns on Google Maps he realizes that they remain relatively the same. he also uses Atlas ObscuraA powerful tool for discovering new places. It has locations that are already pinned – from haunted places to historical sites from around the world! He concludes by saying that the best photos are always the unexpected ones.

I know I’ve been indecisive in the past about where to take photos. I’ve also used Google Maps to look at places, but not Street View. I pin places that I get to see later, usually because it’s the wrong time of day to take a photo of that place. I will check out the Atlas Obscura app, which I can use to find interesting and even local places on my travels. If you’re looking for great tips for exploring new places I highly recommend this short video!
