1. Travel
Travel is the biggest source of my inspiration. I have been quite lucky to detect a handful of different places, and I somehow inspired and changed. Some of my favorite cities are Rishikesh in India, Hong Kong, Dubai and Tokyo, as cultures were very different from what I am using. I think at any time we can step out of our routine to highlight ourselves to new experiences, making our attitude wider in such a way that living at home can not be just.
When I go to a new city, I like to make a list of museums, stores, hotels and restaurants to travel and plan the routes running to all of them. The way I have lost myself on different streets, which has inspired me to find some great spots! I love this balance of the plan a little while allowing some mixed-in spontaneity. This combo never failed me.
2. Art + goods
Another way I remain inspired, by going to art and design fairs. I live in NYC, where we are locally lucky, but I also like basal and design Miami.
These are some of my favorite days. I usually take the day from work, I go with the interior design friends/colleagues, and then we go somewhere on a luxurious lunch. When I am there, I take photos that I carefully file as an inspiration for future projects.
When you are busy, it becomes easy to keep your head down and grind, but as a creative, it is important to take the day to find inspiration and share some good laughter with friends.
3. Internal architectural + design details
I constantly see how wherever I go, capturing the photo, how things are made or designed. When I am traveling with the family, while they are busy taking pictures of monuments or group, I am sniffing the shots of door knobs and molding and asking them to go out of the frame! I am specially ready for European design, and get tons of inspiration while living there. I think they really do modern and calm things, and when I return to the states, I like to bring those some elements to their projects.
4. Nature
Nature is another magnificent source of inspiration and amazement for me. I try and walk out in the park every day, no matter the weather. I think walking in nature and just observing me gives me peace of mind, and a lot of time, some of my best ideas.
The grandeur and perfection of nature always salutes me and all my problems seem small. Therefore, it is essential for my good and inner peace to sink myself in nature.
5. NYC
Last but at least NYC is not my hometown. I was eight years old here and every time I set foot in the city, I am inspired again. People, from fashion and city pulse, all reveals my creativity. Some of my best thoughts come to me, when I am walking from place to place with my headphones and music. Turning the corner and watching the Chrisler’s building bathing in sunlight is never amazed and inspires me.
I once got a chance to ask the performance artist Marina Abramovic as to why she preferred to be in NYC and said: “Energy. Manhattan is built on the bedock that only shoots energy back to you”. I agree with all my heart and every time I feel that I step into the city.
