F1 Race Winner and Le Mans Victor Jochen Mass 78 years old

Formula 1 Race Winner and Le Mans 24 hours Victor Zochen month died at the age of 78.

The death of the German was announced by his family on his Instagram page, after over a month it was revealed that he was described as a “medical emergency”.

“Today we mourn the loss of a husband, father, grandfather and a racing legend,” the family said.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Jochen month has died today due to complications after a stroke in the beginning of this year.

“Thanks to everyone for the incredible support we have received. Every message of positivity was relayed to him, which gave him peace and comfort in his last days.

“Beyond mourning his death, we also celebrate his incredible life. A life that he preferred to share with all of you. A life that he lived for perfection.

“He is running again with all his friends.”

During its nine-season, the singles victory of the month, the 105-start F1 career came to the Montjuic Park Street Circuit in Barcelona in the Spanish Grand Prix of 1975.

During a race-winning F2 season with Surte in 1973, the month was given its first F1 opportunity by the team.

A full-season drive with the British squad before switching to McLaren for the last two races to replace the injured Mike Helwood in 1974.
