Doorna CEO Carmello Azpeletta will recall the Motogp British Grand Prix later this week after surgery for the spinal injury.
The first Grand Prix will be marked at the Silverstone event, which Motoogi boss missed the championship in 1992 since.
Spaniered has long been suffering from the spinal condition affecting two vertebrae, causing it to cause chronic pain. While he had managed to face it till now, he finally opted to undergo surgery to address the issue.
Azpeletta hopes to return to Padock for the next round of the World Championship, which moves forward in Aragon in his motherland in two weeks.
Now at the age of 79, every program on the calendar since 1992 has an edpeta, serving as the public face and CEO of the championship.
In the last 33 years, under his leadership, more than 500 Grands Prix has been staged. Silverstone will be 563rd of these, but will be remembered by Ezpeletta first.

In addition to serving as the CEO of Doorna, Azpeta is also the largest individual shareholder in Motogp within the Spanish company. After the upcoming sale of American entertainment legend Liberty Media, he will maintain a stake of about 14% in the MotogP World Championship.
Liberty is expected to confirm the sales of Motogp – most likely in June – once the European Union’s Antitust Commission receives approval.
The latter transition period will include both Carmello and current Sports Director Carlos Azpeletta, who are expected to be in their roles by the end of at least 2026.
Since 2027, Motogp will adopt new technical regulations, including the introduction of 850cc engines, low aerodynamics, simplified ride-height equipment and a new tire suppliers-all operated by all changes Carmello Azpeta.
