It is about time that pen tablets and pen displays were caught with the portability of computers we use for editing. WACOM MOVINK allows you to bring the convenience and accuracy of a pen display, takes you anywhere.
Editing with a pen display, until most photographers remember, always had to be trapped at home or on a desk in the studio. While pen tablets have obtained light and portable, most of the pens display, especially decent screens and color performance, remained large and heavy. However, this new portable pen display of WACOM brings all the characteristics of a competent editing tool completely differently.

Vacom Movink There is a surprisingly thin and light slate that comes in just 319.5 x 205.2 mm (12.6 x 8.1 in) with a width of just 4 mm (0.16 in) and weighs only 420 grams (0.9 pounds). Within the slate, there is an active area of 294 x 165 mm (11.6 x 6.5 in) with an anti-fingerprint coating with anti-glare glass with an OLED panel of 13.3 inch.
It comes with two physical buttons located on each side, along with a touch button on the edge of the active surface and a USB-C port on each side which can be used interchangeley for the operation of a pen display. The bottom surface is rolled by thin rubber grip, but moreover, there are no other physical characteristics or buttons on the tablet.
Display
The 13.3 -inch OLED screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel (FHD) with a maximum brightness of 350 NITs and the opposite ratio of 100,000: 1. It displays 10-bit color and cover 100% of DCI-P3 and 95% of Adobe RGB. WACOM Movink is also valid with pantone and screens which is valid with a color accuracy rating of delta E <1.5; However, the package did not come up with a factory calibration report that gives information about the actual performance of the specific unit.
pen
The pens involved in the WACOM Movink are a battery-free EMR-type pen that easily holds three additional tips inside the pen barrel, which can be opened in the same way that you will open a refillable ink pen. The package does not include a pen stand, and the pen has no way on the tablet itself. The pen has an resolution of 8,192 pressure sensitivity level, 5,080 lines per inch, and provides input even when tilted up to 60 degrees on any side.
What’s in the box
Wacom Movink’s packaging pen display can be the most effective weak box. It comes in a box made of environmentally friendly material that does not contain absolutely plastic. Inside is a pens display, pen and a single 1 M USB-C to USB-C cable. Movink does not include a stand, nor does it have any flip-out extensions legs for versatile working angles.
Establishment of
The basic setup for the Movink Pen display is as easy as plugging one end of the cable to your favorite side and the other end is able to run both in the computer’s USB-C port which is capable of running both tablet input and display output. Once plug in, the screen will display the default settings of the computer, which can be either primary display (when used on laptop) or mirror of extension. If the touch function is active, it already works with a display without the need for any driver setup.
To maximize ergonomics of capabilities and performance, the setting up requires a downloadable driver, which provides access to an extension set of custom functions and on-screen shortcuts. Setting the pen involves selecting a custom shortcut for each of the three buttons on the lower third. They can be assigned to the keyboard shortcut for use with various apps, keyboard modifiers that can be useful for navigation and selection, or other gestures or even system shortcuts.
When installing a pen display, various on-screen shortcuts and radial menu can be assigned and set for quick switching between mode and editing tools. In addition, since the screen is sensitive to up to 10 points of touch, different gestures can be assigned to various finger combinations and movements for better workflow efficiency.
Application and user experience
The very first perception that most users will probably have about Vacom Movink, its size and weight. After using a pen display of a variety of types and sizes, it was surprising to see that this OLED pen display is thin and lighter than some (non-touch) portable monitor on the market and is not near the size of any other pen display. However, it is important to know that the ideal size for pen display will be completely dependent on the user’s workflow and preference. I personally prefer a 13–16 inch range as they do not include a lot of surface area to use them, but other users will definitely like large sizes, especially in digital illustrations. With respect to that size, 1920 x 1080 maximum resolution is understood; However, it will be interesting to see if the 2.5K resolution will make a lot of difference. Regardless, it was still quite surprising that it is thinner than any other 13 -inch pen display used by me.
One of the most impressive features of this new pen display is such a panel that uses it. Most other pen displays have an IPS panel, while WACOM MOVINK has an OLED panel. Generally, an OLED screen will mean more vibrant color, more contrast ratio and even bright output that does not renounce the color accuracy. However, a modest modal advantage of using OLED screens is the significant advantage that has a more flexible viewing angle range. Unlike the IPS panel on the pen display, which requires a more vertical angle between the viewer and the screen, the OLED display can also be seen continuously from the acute angles. This may be the reason that WACOM MOVINK does not have an underlying or a separate adjustable stand; However, it would have been still good if any of them would have had a choice.
When using a pen display, the next concern will be workflow efficiency. Initially, it seemed that due to the lack of buttons and dials, it would have to depend on the keyboard of the computer to switch between equipment and functions, but when set properly, the on-screen menu and shortcuts basically fill the zero. In combination with screen touch sensitivity, one can use one hand for a pen input and the other hand for navigation gestures. At the same time, the user can either set one of the pen buttons to draw a shortcut or radial menu or set a gesture instead of doing so. It is also a thoughtful feature that touch sensitivity can be easily closed. While this feature is very easy and more efficient than using a pen display, some users find their palm more comfortable to relax their palm on the screen without worrying about the unexpected input.
Overall, whether it can be used as a portable editing tool that can be brought everywhere or as a semi-installed tool on an editing desk that does not take too much space, Vacom Movink Surely there is an impressive new development and worthy of being the first of its kind. This will definitely be good to see more options in terms of size and resolution, when it comes to OLED pen, the line is displayed below, but in my opinion, this first recurrence has successfully raised the bar.
