DS Penscay balances caution and efficiency in London Formula E opener

Third in the championship of teams going to London, DS Penscay The team is determined more than ever to maintain its position. To do this, both cars need to be obtained in the top 10 and the score points need to be finished, as it has done many times this season. But in Formula E, no two races are the same, especially at the end of the championship when some drivers have nothing to lose and take more risk.

On Saturday morning, Excel in London put Padock bouncing the sky. At 10 o’clock in the morning, the cars were taken to the track for free practice under the circumstances where the grip was still uncertain. Although the air temperature was 20 C, asphalt remained difficult with some areas of low grip and moisture patches. The specific nature of the track, combining the inner sections, further complex cases: transitions between the two surfaces caused sudden movements, which drivers had to be absorbed with cleverness. Like the previous day, the teams focused on working on the set-up in search of the right lap time.

In qualifying, Maximilian Guanthar made a strong performance in Group A, set the second fastest time and secured his place in the doubles. Jean-Aric VargonIn Group B, some good forms were also shown, leading to more than half of the session. The second part was more complex, and he eventually missed one place from four tenth of a second in the final qualifying session. Later, Guenther lost his duality NYCK DE VRIES (Mahindra), and two DS e-stress Fe25s are qualified with Gunther in sixth place and Vergen in 15th place.

An excellent strategy and well employed return: DS Penscay rewarded

DS Automobiles, which have been involved in Formula E since 2015 and have been partnered with Penscay Autosport since the Gen 3 ERA, capitalization on its high-level strategic expertise. The first race in London, fought more than 37 laps, which was introduced in every double-header, promoted a mandatory pit, which is a 30s stop to recharge up to 3.85kwh when the battery level is between 40% and 60%.

This is purely a strategic practice, as recharging is not technically necessary to see the checker flag. Therefore, the art of giving time to this ‘boost’ in the race becomes an essential strategic liver. Vergen landed for an excellent start, finishing four places in the first few corners. However, his team’s partner Gujar was trapped behind several drivers and his car was pushed into the wall.

As the sole representative of the Franco-American team on the track, Vergen systematically enforced his energy strategy. On this winding urban circuit, where every overtaking maneuver carries a risk, the French attracted to the field to return through the area on its experience and accuracy. In the ninth place, he waited for the right time to attach his two attack mode and promote his pit, which he did just before the half point of the race.

As the attacks continued and the cars emerged from their power boost steps, in the last third of the race, Vergen was ranked sixth, thanks to the well-executed strategy by DS Penscay Engineers. With five laps to go, the intervention of a second security car further tightened the gap, while several drivers, including Vargon, had already activated their final attack mode.
An additional lap was added by the race director, but the posts remained unchanged. Starting from the 15th, Vergen made a great comeback to finish sixth. It was a solid and intelligent performance, which was distinctive to the French driver and DS Penscay’s surgical approach. This racing science had already enabled him to move from 18th to third in the second race of Berlin E-Pix.

The last round of the year will be seen on Sunday, the last chance to strengthen their positions in the Championships of DS Penscay teams and drivers.
