In recent years, cameras Raw and Literoom have become powerful editing companions. The flexibility they provide through their masking features have motivated me to move a lot of their editing from Photoshop to Literoom. But as Benz shows in your video, you should be careful with these editing. Many sliders of original settings behave differently when vs. selected vs. are selectively implemented inside a masking layer.
A rigid example is “black” slider. If you apply it globally, the results look natural, and the image retains the opposite. However, if you create a local adjustment and use “blacks” slides with similar values, you get a very bright, washed image. This is why Benz suggested relying on masting in Photoshop for such settings. You can either load your raw file as a smart object in Photoshop and then make several copies, which makes you apply different raw adjustments. You can also make virtual copy inside lighter or camera raw, apply separate settings globally, and load in different layers in Photoshop.
In Photoshop, you can use masks to make different layers for your choice. With the luminosity mask, you have a powerful feature that allows you to target your adjustment for a specific tanwala range.
