Gary Anderson claims his previous defeat to Luke Littler at the Grand Slam of Darts has inspired him as he sets his sights on success at the World Darts Championship.
The 17-year-old had defeated the Scot, 37 years his senior, after coming from behind to win earlier this year.
But Anderson said he felt energized by the clash and wanted to replicate it to help veteran star Eli Palli reach the latter stages.
“It really motivated me, fair play, four legs on him, I had to stop my throw one time and I messed it up,” Anderson said.
“Even later, I saw when Luke beat me, you could see a kind of relief on his face, so I said, ‘I’ve pushed you’, it’s good, it gives me a bit of a boost and it’s kind. To give you that sparkle.
“The little things motivate me and I need to keep it going. There are some great darts players out there and it still feels good to play against them.”
