Canon has introduced speedlight EL-1 V2, although changes are extremely subtle. The latest flash shares almost all glasses with original EL-1, with only two minor differences in flash power and battery life.
El-1 V2 provides a slightly lower guide number than El-1. For 14 mm position, the original model has a guide number 14.1m (46.3 ‘) at ISO 100, while EL-1 V2 is with similar settings with similar settings. In the event of 200 mm, EL -1 offers a guide number of 60 meters (196.9 ‘) on ISO 100, while EL -1 V2 M (6.6 “) is low.
The new model also provides a slight increase in battery life. Canon promised 340 full-power brightness per charge with EL-1 V2, which is 5 more than the original EL-1. Given that there is a little less power, a little collision in battery life makes sense.
In addition to those two things, EL-1 and EL-1 V2 are similar and look, size and other glasses. Both are designed for professional users and offer 24–200 mm coverage, a 0.9 second recycle time, an active cooling system, three flash mode and the same wireless radio control technology. Like the original, the EL-1 V2 is also a weather-cellar, making it possible to use flash in bad weather conditions.

Hopefully, availability will be the most important change here, though. Canon had long stock issues in EL -1. Petpixel Last year reported Some users were waiting for a year for flash. Even then, it is continuously out of stock on B&H and Canon’s website, as at the time of writing. Perhaps Canon addressed some of his production process that would enable it to keep the new model in stock.
EL-1 V2 also comes with a stable price tag for American customers. It costs $ 1349, while El-1 was launched at $ 1099 in 2021 and currently sells in $ 1199. It is 12.5% above the current price of EL-1, which is almost corresponding to the pricing of the canon, which is related to the American tariff. It seems that the cost of EL-1 V2 outside the US may correspond to the current price of EL-1, which is coming in £ 1229.
