Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will resume business talks with US President Donald Trump Canada Late on Sunday, it said that it is canceling a digital service tax on American tech companies.

The Canadian Finance Department said in a news release, “According to this action, Prime Minister Carney and President Trump have agreed that the parties will resume the conversation with an approach towards agreeing a deal by July 21, 2025.”
It states that the collection of June 30, 2025 will be stopped, and the law is pending to save the Digital Services Tax Act.

Canada’s Digital Services Tax made effective in June 2024 and requires large businesses, whether they are in Canada or elsewhere, to pay 3% tax on revenue earned by joining online users in Canada if they meet certain conditions if they meet certain conditions.

Trump said that the administration would inform Canada within the “next seven -day period” whether it would pay tariffs to trade with America
The President said in his post that Canada “is a very difficult country to trade” and claimed that Canada has imposed tariffs of up to 400% on American dairy products.
At a trade talks, Breakdown followed the G7 meeting of two leaders earlier this month, and Carney said that he had agreed to wrap a new economic agreement within 30 days.

The US is Canada’s largest trading partner, while Canada is the largest importer of American exports and is one of the top three sources of US imports.
