What is bread and butter pudding?

How to Make Princess Diana’s Favorite Bread and Butter Pudding
Material:
- 3 ounces amaretto-soaked raisins
- 12 slices white bread, layers removed
- 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, melted
- 9 egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons vanilla paste
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 3 ounces peeled almonds
Instruction:
- Cut four slices of white bread into 1/2-inch cubes and spread them evenly over the bottom of a buttered casserole dish. Sprinkle amaretto-soaked raisins (and remaining amaretto) on top.
- Cut remaining bread slices into triangles and dip each in melted butter. Arrange them in an overlapping pattern on top of the cubed bread.
- Beat the egg yolks in a large bowl. Add vanilla paste and sugar, mix until smooth. Heat milk and cream in a saucepan over medium-high heat until boiling. Slowly pour the hot mixture into the eggs, stirring constantly to prevent the eggs from curdling.
- Pour the custard evenly over the bread, making sure it is completely saturated. Let the dish sit for 20 minutes to absorb the liquid. Place the dish in a water bath, fill with hot water up to half of the casserole dish. Bake at 350 °F (175 °C) for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- For an added touch, sprinkle granulated sugar on top and caramelize it using a torch or your oven’s broil function. Top with chopped almonds before serving.
