For the last 100 years, Leika has made a lot of iconic 35 mm film cameras. Now, it is selling the film to go into them, with the announcement of the film Lika Monopan 50, a Black-And-White 35 mm.

Leica says that its first film is Super Panchromatic. It is sensitive to infrared light with all visible light sources. To change the appearance of photographer images, yellow, orange, red, blue, green or infrared filters can be used, which provides considerable flexibility. It provides a film resolution per 280 line pairs per millimeter, which means it must be able to occupy a high level of expansion. It also has ultra-fine grains.

For film fans, it can all look very familiar. While Monopan is built in 50 Germany and tolerates Lika name and red dot, it is not possible that the company has cut its film factory. The film usually shares a terrible a lot Adox HR-50Which is also a super punchmatic, provides the same film resolution and the same ultra-fine grain structure. ADOX HR-50 is also built in Germany.

Even if it is a rebranded film, Lika may modify the emulsion to make it somewhat unique. This is a common thing, after all. For example, Cinestill Kodak Vision 3 undergoes the process of removing the remittance layer on 500T film. However, Monopan 50 can only be re -prepared the film, which is very common. Leica shared the sample images, showing that the film provides a high-contrast, clean image with ultra-finance grain, corresponding to the Adox HR-50.

Lika says that the monopan will not be available by the end of August 50, 2025, so we have to wait to see if anything is unique about the film. Either way, it will come in four “specific packaging options” so that photographers can collect their favorite design.

Leica Monopan 50 will cost $ 10 per roll. For comparison, Adox HR-50 currently sells $ 8 per roll.

New: Monopan 50-Lika to New Black-And-White 35 mm film

To honor a century of 35 mm photography, Leica Camera AG is introducing a high-resolution black-and-white film with spectral sensitivity.

Teaneck, 18 June 2025. Leica I replaced photography when it returned its debut in 1925, establishing the 35 mm format as the new industry standard. The compact format rapidly gained traction with retailers and photographers, usually referred to as a “leika film”, even though the 35 mm film was used with the film Pack Laika, I originated from producers such as Kodak, AGFA or Perutz. To celebrate the Centenary of Leica I and pay homage to 35 mm photography, Leica Camera AG is unveiling its first true Leica 35mm film: Monopan 50 Black-end-White Film, 36 Exposure.

Honoring the origin of 35 mm photography and its specific aesthetics, Lika is making her high-resolution Monopan 50 film, with an extended spectral range. Monopan 50 names are taken from its components: “mono”, “pan” and number “50”. “Mono” refers to the famous monochrome chain of Lika, a line of digital black-and-white cameras, first introduced in 2012. The “Pan” refers to the outstanding punchscometric properties of the film, while the number “50” represents its ISO rating.

Leica Monopan 50 has an ultra-fine grain, which provides impressive resolution of up to 280 line pairs per millimeter. With super-pancormatic sensitivity up to 780nm, it ensures remarkable acumen and an extraordinary tanwala range. The film surrounds the vision of Oscar Barnac’s “small negative – big picture”, which is a very theory that gave birth to the original Lika. With its sophisticated specifications, the Black-And-White film is perfectly suited to the leka lens, which displays their remarkable optical performance, especially in the high-ended large prints and detailed scans. Back to Barnac Day, most films had low sensitivity. Lika has adopted this historical reference in its choice of ISO 50/18 °. With high-demonstrations lenses such as Nottylux-M, Samilx-M and Sarcron-M, the low-sensitivity of the film enables the wider-spread shooting shooting, which presents the specific leika bokeh-even in the state of bright light. Thanks to its increased spectral sensitivity, new
Leica is also ideal for Black-and-White film infrared photography, which shows extraordinary accountability for filtration. For example, monopan 50 pairs originally with leika color filters. This striking increases photographs with opposite and dramatic aesthetics, providing photographers more creative freedom in their compositions.

Built in Germany, monopan 50 is perfect for the 50s especially scenario, architecture, cityscape and travel photography. The film is compatible with all black-and-white developers. This guarantees complete control over black-end-white photography, ensuring the highest degree expansion. Its vintage-style packaging develops the leading era of 35 mm photography, while its excellent specifications encourage photographers to carry forward this heritage by creating impressive images.

Leica Monopan will be available worldwide in 50 Leica stores and through authorized dealers from August 21, 2025. Leica Monopan 50 is priced at $ 10.00.
