Etihad Airways’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner cancels its flight Melbourne Airport in Australia According to reports, on Sunday due to technical reasons.
Etihad Airways flight EY461 from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi began accelerating across the runway at about 7pm, just before applying brakes and coming to a stop.
“The flight crew decided to abort take-off due to technical reasons, the aircraft was safely stopped on the runway and emergency services were involved as a precaution,” Etihad Airways told UAE’s state-owned newspaper The National. “
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that a passenger on the plane said two tires burst after the landing gear caught fire.

Etihad did not immediately respond to Fox Business’ request for comment.
A Melbourne Airport spokesperson told Fox Business that emergency crews responded to the plane and deployed fire-fighting foam as a precaution.
“All 289 passengers deboarded the aircraft safely and departed for the terminal yesterday evening,” the spokesperson said.
Once the passengers had disembarked from the plane, it was removed from the runway.
The incident caused officials to close the runway, which did not reopen until Monday morning local time after all runway inspections were completed.
Etihad Airways told airport officials it was rebooking passengers for future flights.

Boeing also launched an investigation into whether some fasteners on its undelivered 787 Dreamliner planes were installed incorrectly.
