Behind the curtain with Isac Hadzar, the crook who doesn’t just want to win

His parents are with him in every way. His father Yasin is a quantum physicist, his mother Rand is an HR director in a public company and helps managing Isac’s career. “My family is originally from Algeria. My parents came to France alone at the age of 19 and made everything through hard work.”

Yasin is well honored in his territory – and the sources behind the helmet of Isac are a tribute to him.

“When I was five years old, he put me in a rented cart, and I felt it terrible. After two years, he signed me for a course outside Paris – a session every other Sunday. Finally, the instructor said to my father, ‘Your son is good. You should buy a cart and give him a race.”

Growing career, grounded mindset

“This is what I dreamed of doing. The only difference is that dreams do not include less exciting parts – like an endless journey. When I was younger, my father used to say: enjoy those days when you get bored. But now I get it – I miss those quiet days at home.

“But when I am in the car, especially in qualifying – Q1, Q2, Q3 – I like it. You know every tenth matters, and they are incredible moments.

“I wish I could live two lives – one where I am only with those who like me, and one where I just run. But I know I can’t have both.”

Repeated crooks hate repetition

Friday is relatively light on media. But Saturday begins with a trip to the Padock Club. Isac leaves the hospitality, as always with his media minder Andrea Severy, walking across the padock with the headphone.

“I mostly listen to French rap – but it depends on the mood.”

At first glance, Hudzar can come as restless. But spend time with him and it becomes clear: those movements are part of a self-regulation system, its way of zoning and how to switch-to driving or technical briefing.

“I know how important the technical side is,” he says that he is the head of the garage for merit. “It was not easy at first, but now I enjoy that part of the job. I have realized how much you can make even outside the car. I know I have a lot of space to grow there.

“I try to use my head. My father is a quantum physicist who has studied his whole life – I hope I have inherited some of his abilities. And I have learned that when I am on track, I just don’t push the car – I am the primary sensor that my engineers trust.”

One thing is that the Hadzar struggles: recurrence. “I hate it! If you do me the same thing 200 times, I lose my mind. I like new challenges.”

There will be many challenges ahead – but he is laying a strong foundation for a permanent career.

After qualifying in Emola, he does not hide his frustration with P9 – and does not help in the encouragement of parents. “I could have been fifth …”

No phone call, no confirmation – just instinct

A few months ago, the Hudzar Formula 1 was also not there. Now everything is moving fast. “Did I believe in it? Always! Otherwise, I don’t do racing.

Even there is a funny detail – no one formally told Hadzar that he would be running in F1 in 2025.

“I never got a call saying that I will become a Formula 1 driver. Let’s just say that Helmut does not like to give good news,” he laughs.

“Nobody ever said,” Good morning, ISAC, you are in F1 next year. ” There is nothing like this, but obviously, I understood. I asked why, and he said: ‘Don’t worry, meet tomorrow.’ It is fun now – but then, it put me on the edge. ,

Even though Emola’s race did not go in her way – she came from sixth to ninth place due to a safety car at a bad time – Hudzar’s stock is growing in the padock.

“What I said about junior categories is still true: you don’t always have a winning car, but I think there is always an opportunity to show something impressive, something good. That’s what I have always trusted.

“But I know the time will come when only one thing matters: win – and win a lot.”
