America’s Happiest City is Also a Top Retirement Spot

The report, which compared 182 different cities, took into account four key categories: affordability, activities, quality of life and health care. Within those categories, WalletHub evaluated 45 metrics on a 100-point scale, with 100 being the best.

Minneapolis, which came in third place (aside from Orlando, Florida and Scottsdale, Arizona, in first and second place, respectively), had an overall score of 59.01. The city has one of the highest rates of veteran-friendly jobs, meaning there are labor opportunities available for elderly residents who want to work to supplement their fixed income. According to WalletHub, more than 20 percent of workers in Minneapolis are 65 years of age or older. However, its overall strength is quite low – ranked 96th.
