The 28-year-old also highlighted how extreme the ups and downs have been this season, saying that the start of the year was “very difficult for all of us in the team with a poorly performing car.”

After a disastrous start to the alpine season, such a result in the spring seemed simply impossible. During the first five rounds of the 2024 championship, neither Gasly nor his former teammate Esteban Ocon managed to crack the top-10.
While there were signs of a mid-season revival with a string of ninth and tenth-place finishes, it turned out that more stormy tides were spent at the back of the field before the team re-emerged with a podium challenger.
The real turning point came in Sao Paulo when Ocon finished second and Gasly third for Alpine’s first double podium. For Gasly, Sunday’s excellent effort in Abu Dhabi after finishing fifth in Qatar provided an excellent end to a challenging year.
