The path of residential dynamics-where individuals move forward to re-adapt as change in their needs, increase in budget, and families grow-have seen a variety of challenges for traditional trajectory. The homeowner migrated from the starter to the Forever Home, sometimes less or simplifying the end of his housing career. but this Oshino drive residenceLocated with the marsing roads of Los Angeles Brentwood Neberhood, a story of thoughtful sewing over time, where the walls were disqualified and the blanks were given a slack before being stitched back together. Family ownership and conducted Ah studio Worked closely with the owners of the household, one of which is an interior designer by business, on the latest update of the structure for a Bispoke Fit.
As a long-term, custom-built family home, the residence has seen its proper share of growing pain and changes since its construction before the new millennium. Customers now require more favorable to host several generations for classification of gatherings indoors and outside. With some 4,500 square feet, the two-storey structure contains a lot of rooms that provide different degrees of privacy or openness.
Family members may find six unique bedrooms, five full bathrooms, time alone in one of the powder rooms, or hidden in laundry. But the grand gesture of the house is facilitated by two oversized pocketing doors, a great kitchen, dining area and a great room formed from the living room – which are all spread on the courtyard, where the guests can enjoy the entertainment al -Fresco adjacent to the ingrant pool.
The interior architecture required an important space plan by Aaha Studio to button. The design team reconsidered the existing programming such as kitchen, living room, fireplace, laundry, former maid bathrooms and stairs. And they did not spare any surface from consideration because they took down the drop roof to maximize the heights of the roof. Other updates include new devices to additional fenstation to secondary bathroom finish and fixtures.
“We love the reunion layout of the blank space. On our first visit to the house, we realized that the kitchen should be at the opposite end. The way people live and entertain, the kitchen is the heart of the overall place, ”shares the studio. “We had to lose a chimney to get it, but it was worth it and runs the concept of the house that the kitchen is the new stove!”
The ah studio at that time capitalized the industry’s tendency towards light oak and black steel, which was moving away from the dark wood of the time, which looked very heavy spaces. This will be rimis to frame the beauty upgrade as only superficial given the complexity of the project.
Completed adaptation is far stronger: the kitchen is re -focused in the plan with a new island and cabinet; The demolition of the internal walls facilitates better flows and an abundance of daylight; Slide glass pocket doors in place of French doors for dirtable layouts; The streamlined plumbing allows for better bathing locations; And a modern front ladder design twists the millwork in a harmonious circulation story from both levels.
The broad makeover is also expressed with an external facelift. Changes in the position of the mask, the removal of unnecessary details such as breathing with an updated color palette, clever fenstation, shutter and non-structural columns, painted wooden cladding, smooth fresh stores, pronounced by simple eave details by new asphalt shingles, and an updated brick walkway is complementary to move beyond the leading door.
“We came on the project to reconsider our customers’ existing residences,” says the studio. “In addition to these elements and how they were established, you create a world of difference in experience of space.”
