Adl and its affiliated Jlens are advancing a proposal on Meta, which are calling Meta to release a detailed report on handling disgusting materials.
The Anti-Defection League (ADL) is the support of institutional shareholder services (ISS) and Glass Lewis & Co. in a shareholder proposal sponsored by affiliated Jlens.
Both Proxy advisory firm Meta is advising shareholders to vote in favor of the proposal, which tries to tell the Big Tech giant how it deal with disgusting materials on its platforms.
In proposal 8, under the title “Report on Hate Targeting marginalized communities”, the requirements for such a report have been explained in more detail. Jlens is asking that the report involves the company’s details on the company’s “policies, practices and effectiveness” in dealing with hatred, in particular, “especially” antisementism, anti-LGBTQ+ and displayness anti-disabled hate. ” According to the proposal, the findings have to be made public within a year.

This proposal comes after a month Meta oversight board Regulating the content expressed its concern over the company’s change in the policy, which was declared in January. The board concluded that there was no need to remove the controversial speech, but the meta was “needed to remove the content where there is sufficient connection to tangible damage.”
ADL CEO Jonathan Greenbalatt welcomed the support of ISS and Glass Lewis, told the Fox business that the two firms were “an important milestone to bring back the proposal.”
Greenblatt told Fox Business, “We all want to ensure that Meta is making it clear how they are handling large -scale antisementism and bigotry on their services.”
In last June, ADL released its findings that showed that 61% experienced among teenagers who were harassed online. Harassment on Facebook-From 53% found in its previous report.
A few months later, in September, ADL released its own Social media scorecard In which Facebook received a C grade and Instagram received the same.
The organization found that when the platforms had a “suitable policy”, neither worked on materials with principles of indicated antisementic conspiracy by regular users. When the same material was informed by “reliable flagar”, Facebook acted At 87.5%, while Instagram worked at 68.8% according to ADL.

Greenblatt said that ADL has been trying to join the meta for months and has failed to work against disgusting materials to the company. The ADL chief also told Fox Business that despite supporting ISS and Glass Lewis, he does not believe that the proposal will be adopted.
“It is unlikely that the proposal will be approved. Mark Zuckerberg The company owns a controlled number of shares. I hope that a large percentage of shareholders will vote in favor of the proposal. Greenblatt said that the company is going to send a loud and clear message that they need to deal with it once and for all.
Ultimately, according to Greenblaut, ADL is looking for meta that it handles the top-down moderation to continuously work and to ensure that its current policies are being applied. Greenblatt told Fox Business that it is not about “cancellation of culture”, but about “result culture”.
“If you violate the terms or conditions, you just need to pay the price,” he said.
While the greenblaut accepts that top-down material moderation is not easy, it is necessary. He talked to Fox Business about the issues of platforms that do not employ top-down moderation practices such as Wikipedia, which is fully operated by the user.
“Okay, what are the community notes on the scale? I point you to Wikipedia. Wikipedia service, which is completely user-operated, is not a top-down moderation. And we have seen, as ADL and others have expanded, anti-zoniism, antismitism (and) an institutionalization of the bilt-ins”

He admitted that the meta would face challenges in modeling such content, but said “the top-down material was pulling back from the moderation and just surrendering to the crowd” was not the solution “.
In January, Meta announced major changes in the terms of its service, including the end of the facts, which affected how the forum addressed the abusive language online. While many people appreciated the move, ADL immediately expressed concern about the decision.
Those days, Greenblatt said It was “the mind-making of how one of the most profitable companies in the world is working with such sophisticated technology, taking back the important steps in the case of antisementism, hatred, misinformation and protecting groups of weak and marginalized online.”
Meta shareholders are expected to meet on Wednesday, although it is not clear when the results of the vote on this proposal will be made public.
