YDR Studio has shared photos of a contemporary stone house designed in Mexico, which includes a central courtyard with a sunken outdoor seating area.
Situated between the beach and the mountains, the house features a cactus wall that projects two mirror modules on either side of the entrance: a car garage and a service house, each integrated into the overall aesthetic.
Beyond these modules, desert-inspired courtyards on either side guide guests on a path leading to the main house.
The external walls of the main house and modules are clad in local stone that matches the surrounding sand. The architectural palette complements the coastal setting, with beige concrete mimicking the natural color of the sand and warm wood accents reflecting the nearby desert landscape.
The residence is thoughtfully arranged around a central circular courtyard, which acts as the heart of the home. This unique design element is not just a focal point but a versatile space for relaxation, meditation and social interaction.
At the center of this circular space is a fire pit, surrounded by a sunken circular sofa that invites gathering and contemplation.
The open design of the patio frames the night sky, providing a unique vantage point for stargazing amidst the soothing glow of the fire.
Around the central courtyard, the living spaces are completely open from the entrance to the beach terrace, allowing cross-ventilation and seamless integration between spaces.
The living room, dining area and kitchen share the same open-plan room, with a cool interior palette.
The home’s social area extends outside to a spacious terrace where sculptural concrete pieces frame the pool, Jacuzzi and stairs leading directly to the sand. The design enhances the connection to the beach and ensures seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living.
The home also features six bedrooms, each designed with a neutral palette. The master bedroom overlooks the beach, while the second master faces the circular patio. Two additional bedrooms share a bathroom with a bunk bed room and overlook the desert-inspired patio at the back of the home.
Bathrooms throughout the home are crafted from travertine marble, maintaining the home’s material concept while adding a clean and elegant touch.
