To carry my equipment in which a small pack is required, I put the new peak design 18L outdoor backpack and 4L sling through their pace. I wish I was available to them years ago.
When it comes to going on a photoshoot, I am a minimum. Often, I take more than one camera, my filter and perhaps nothing more than a tripod or monopod. I always emphasize this for my customers, persuading them that they will not be separated from the pleasure of the shoot to carry a heavy bag of gear. In addition, it can be dangerous to be top-beavine when walking in challenging conditions.
Of course, it depends on what I am shooting. Sometimes, I need to remove a little extra gear, and at other times, I need to have a pack lunch with me. When a walk in rural areas to take a picture of wildlife, I can suddenly see a great landscape, so having a second camera with me helps in that situation; I do not change the lens here on the coast. So I have been looking for a small bag.
I make no secret of my curiosity for the peak design gear. It is always well made, and their dedication is outstanding to preserve the planet. While my peak design is very good everyday backpack, the minimum gear I pack is often lost inside it. So, I was eager to try new Outdoor 18 L Backpack,
18L outdoor backpack of peak design
I reviewed 45-liter version of this bag Back in November last year. Since then, it has been with me over the mountains and below valleys. I find it perfect for this hill and hiking. The design of the 18-liter bag is slightly different, but similarly painted and highly strong, yet there is enough light to carry without a barrier.
Because the bag is designed for great outdoor, it is to be placed with the front of the bag against the ground. Therefore, straps and back panels are not wet or dirty when you set it. The rear panel unjusts from the bottom to the other side. The fastening consists of two zippers and contains the vederproof ultrazipps of the peak design that is made with ultra-high-high-melodious polyethylene threads. It is a strong, low-strust thermoplastic that contains exceptional wear resistance, high effect strength and chemical resistance, and is used in body armor and orthopedic transplants.
Unzipping the back reveals a huge interior compartment designed to take cubes of peak design. There are seam-in loops to attach them around the edge of the interior.
Inside, there is also an interior pocket for a 13 -inch laptop, tablet or drink bladder. There are a loop and an access point with zipper to feed the bladder tube.
The front section is made from waterproof ultralight Tera Shell ™ 210D Repstop Fabric. It is approved by Vedarproof, 100 percent recycled, and bluzine. It has an internal pu coating that adds Weatherproof Protection. Externally, it is treated with PFAS-free water disturbances, which is a more environmentally friendly option than standard DWR.
It has two coaches in front of it. Each has a zipper for access, with one on both sides. One of these has a bungee cord with a carbinner to achieve the keys. There are also two open side pockets suitable for carrying water bottles or a small trippai; It will fit comfortably Peak Design Travel Tippai,
The back panel is well padded, and there is no place to connect the waistband of the peak design, which is not included. There are two hook-on narrow chest straps attached to the removable shoulder straps. They swings independently at the top, making it comfortable to wear. I am much larger than my wife, and we both found that it is an issue with some bags that I have tried without sitting on our shoulders. Being removable, the chances of getting entangled in the conveyor belt are reduced while traveling.
Each shoulder strap is fitted with a small, webbed pocket for quick access, and a section is designed to take a peak design capture clip. There is a strong grabbing handle at the top of the bag, and a continuous cord sewn for the bag at regular intervals around the edges, which offers a series of gear loops.
4L outdoor sling of peak design
At first glance, four liters may look like a strange shape for a bag, but it is useful.
Wearing above the shoulder or around the waist, it is a versatile bag to carry a wallet, passport, cell phone, spare battery, memory card, and more. In addition, it can be used as an extension of 18L, as it can be attached to the chest from the backpack shoulder straps, which provides additional protection your precious items.
4L outdoor sling From the same material to outdoor backpack.
The sling has two zipd compartments and, the closest to your body, has an open pocket. The outer pocket is a major cord similar to the backpack. Meanwhile, the largest double-zipper section has three internal pockets, the largest of which also has a zipper. Open rear pocket provides quick and easy access to non-valued people; I used it for a lens dress and a packet of tissues.
The removable shoulder strap is wide enough to be comfortable and has a strong seam-in gear loop.
Bag in use
18L outdoor backpacks worked best with peak design cubes. It is important to note that the bag is not compatible with small, medium or large cubes. However, it takes an smedium and an additional V2 cube. I found that they helped the bag to maintain their size when they were completely open. Extra-six cube will take me happily Om -1 mark II with 40-150 mm F/4 Pro Lens Joined together.
Although this is not intended in this configuration, I discovered something clean. I can fit my camera with its large 150-400 mm F/4.5 Pro Lens and along with this my spare camera in extra-six cube. Then, inserting the removable top panel from the smedium cube into one of the outer pocket helped protect gear.
I found the bag comfortable to wear. While doing my normal test, I drove it under my shower for 30 seconds, and it remained dry inside.
Similarly, the outdoor sling stood for the shower test and was comfortable to use during walking and cycling. I could also use it to carry the same camera and 40–150 mm lens combination.
I found it easy to use both bags to protect my gear. However, there is a disadvantage with every benefit: it is slow to recover the gear from the backpack. This does not bother me, because I like security on fast access.
I am not the owner of a water bladder, but after my tests, I read that someone had issues of compatibility with the brand they used. Perhaps the peak design can release your own water bladder for use with your bag.
As I wrote this, it is midsummer. Nevertheless, I tried backpack while wearing gloves and mittones and could operate zipper and straps.

As one expects, both items are exceptionally well created.

The design is well thought out.
-
Comfortable to wear on walking or cycling.
-
Ververse and easy to configure again.
-
Compatible with other peak design devices.
-
The eclipse shown here is colorful attractive and unique; Bags are also available in black color.
What can be improved next time
-
I use a peak design anchor link on my keys. Instead of a carbinner, an anchor link at the end of the cord will work.
-
An internal pocket on the backpack for storage of precious goods will be a boon. I found around it using a small summit design tech thach.
in conclusion
As usual, it is a first class product from peak design. It looks well and strong. There are a lot of cords on the backpack, and I will remove some of them when they are not needed. They are useful, however, for storage of external gear and to obtain water bottles and tripets in side pockets.
There are large versions of both objects, and it is worth considering that you will suit your circumstances better. I like this compact version, as they fit my camera gear and how to work.
