Week Kitchen: Bright and comfortable in white, wood and blue

The couple of this Massachusetts bought their colonial shingle-style house in 2004. But the kitchen was not one of them. The space was a good shape and included a breakfast area, but a small island without seating, a tight tool setup and the dark and dated Finnish did not give these food stylish and welcome kitchens, which they dreamed.

Now the parents of the three-elder sons, the couple were finally ready to make serious changes. He hired designer pair Swartz to help improve both function and style. While the overall layout remained mostly the same, two-tone custom cabinets in a classic white for the perimeter and a robin-ender blue kitchen for the expander island a fresh look. Blue and blue backplash complement a dual-fuel border island in a soft shade of tiles. Add black touch dramatic contrast. Elegant marble countertops, hot oak floors and a comfortable seating place near a chimney raise the kitchen near a chimney with a timeless appeal.
