Sankt Lukas Hospital: Nature in a village
New unveiled Sankt Lukas by Dharamshala Bjarke ingls group (Big) Will be located in Denmark And the Sant Lucas will serve as a subscriber care center contained in the history of the Foundation, which is from the 1930s. The design prioritizes three main principles – security and home spirit, solitude and solidarity, and arrival and farewell. The architecture will be scattered between its Woodland reference, while the buildings will re -present the surrounding historical structures with picked roofs and yellow bricks.

Bjarke ingles designs horticulture spaces for the last days of life
Each patient chamber of Sankt Lukas Hospital is designed directly to a private roof by the Bjarke Ingels Group and surrounding Green Garden scenes. Architects Link the ground-floor rooms to the courtyard through adjacent corridors, strengthening the integration of indoor and outdoor spaces.
Big’s founder and creative director, Bjarke Ingels described the project as a ‘a peaceful and poetic atmosphere’, where individuals can connect with nature and observe changing seasons. ,Instead of linear corridors of hospitals, we have created an atmosphere of small buildings organized around preserved natural gardens.‘He explains. One of the major characteristics is a farewell garden, a place where the roof opens completely towards the sky, provides room for the last moments and symbolic journey.
The project will include the first day of Denmark and units for children, youth and adults.
A landscape for treatment and reflection
The guests are welcomed by an open foger with scenes of gardens of the succulent courtyard. Both buildings serve as gathering areas for central heart location community and welfare. Lusashuset includes family rooms for privacy and solidarity, as well as with activity places for sports and reflection. Adult Dharamshala provides large common areas for activities and meetings.
Partner David Zahle in Big, emphasizes the importance of care in the design approach. ,The project lies deeply in its environment by rebupping bricks from existing buildings and drawing inspiration from the traditional craftsmanship of the site.‘He notes. Bright, open spaces promote a sense of peace, with large windows that bring nature indoors, prepare moments of grief, treatment and reflection.

The surrounding landscape acts as a natural buffer from the city, increasing the character of the park. The interconnected environment includes open lawns, intimate gardens, a sensory garden and curved routes. Specific areas have a wild grassland, seasonal flowering plants and gardens inspired by Danish natural landscape. A rainwater pond promotes biodiversity, while benches with pathway and niches provide spaces for comfort and thinking.
At the western end of Dharamshala, a woodland-inspired atrium has a farewell park. With an open view of the sky, this peaceful place provides a symbolic relationship for infinity, which serves as a place for the last moments.
The patient’s rooms have private roofs and garden views, which opens on the courtyard with a ground-floor room.
