The plan to avoid the traditional dealership of Scout Motors and sell EVS directly to consumers is in legal trouble.
A group of Volkswagen and Audi dealers filed a case against this week Scout motorsEV that comes out of Volkswagen. The lawsuit, which was earlier Reported by motor vehicle newsScout’s direct-to-conjumer cells want to block the retail model.
The dealership has fought for years to block EV startup-especially Tesla-Tesla-Block with mixed success with mixed success. Now, the fight focuses on scouts, which is not expected to start production of EVS by 2027.
The California New Car Dealers Association issued a conflict-and-exercise letter to Volkswagen and Scout Motors in December 2024, claiming that direct sales violate the state law. Dealership groups in other states, especially now in Florida, are trying to prevent scouts from direct sales.
