Earlier this month, Yashika was reportedly designed to release a pair of point-and-shoot cameras. City 100 and City 200The company has finally confirmed pricing and availability and full specifications have been published – but they raise more questions than providing answers.
Very little was known about these cameras, when the news about them was first broken on 6 January and now, even after receiving the official press material from Yashika, there are questions.
Two models provide two focal lengths: City 100 features 3.45–10.5 mm f/1.6–2.8 lenses, while the city 200 has a game of 4.9–49 mm f/2.0-3.1. The company translates that “3x zoom” and “10x zoom” means, but do not provide any focal length equivalent for 35 mm full-frame, which most people are on the base zoom range. The original report states that the sensor is the same in a small type 1/3.06 chip many old mid-range smartphones, so nothing-so-in-law means that the city 100 has an equal 25.5-77.7 mm lens while the city is a lens while the city is an equal 25.5-77.7 mm 200 is 200. An equal is 14.8–362.6 mm.
Talking about that sensor, while it is small, it is no less at the promised resolution. “Promised” is important here, because An Irish Photo Store Listed the camera and confirmed our findings that the sensor is Sony IMX458 (Yashika does not describe the sensor on her website or her press content, only calls it “CMOS sensor”). It is a 13-megapixel sensor. 72MP images are believed to have come from some kind of stitched or upskold photo mode, but Yashika did not expand.
Keeping this in mind, Yashika says that both cameras also shoot at 64, 48, 36, 24, 13, 8 and 5 megapixels with the ability to capture 72-megapixel photos in both cameras. Will have capacity of. Petpixel Does it feel strange that Yashika will provide eight different photo resolutions. IMX458, again, is only 13-megapixels.
This directly leads to the next specification: the claim is that these cameras can shoot 5K videos (5,210 x 2,880 pixels) up to 30 frames per second. The 13-megapixel sensor will not have a width to cover that video resolution. Yashika claims that it can shoot 4K up to 60p, up to 2.7K up to 60p, and 1080 at full HD up to 120p.
Fortunately, Yashika provided full-resolution photo samples, which was captured with new cameras. Below the city is taken with 100 (click to see the full resolution):
Eagle-Idee readers will see that the resolution of these pictures is 3,168 x 4,224 pixels, which is 13.38 megapixels-is correct on the target for IMX458, although slightly longer than expected.
Petpixel It is not sure what is happening with the specifications provided on these cameras. Assuming the sensor information that the published Irish photo store is correct, and there is no reason to doubt it, so the city’s series cameras cannot only 4K the native 5K alone at 60p. Either it is doing some type of up-scaling in-camera (which will require some serious processing to handle a video per second) or Yashika is playing slightly faster and loose with these numbers.
Moving forward, Yashika says that the two cameras support the autofocus with a manual focus along with “detecting the subject”. It was not in detail on the “detection of the subject”. City 100 and City 200 also promise 15 filters including retro, vintage and monotone as well as built-in scene mode including beauty mode and fish eye effects. The cameras also have seven white balance settings, but the company did not explain whether it could be adjusted manually in Calvin nor was one of them automatic. Yashika says that it is thanks to the “Crystal Clear Audio” underlying microphone and speaker, which offer “spontaneous sound recording”.
The camera edge is the USB-C port (to charge the integrated battery) and a microphone jack. The rear has a 2.8-inch flip-up screen with 180-degree rotation in the 4: 3 aspect ratio (although it states that 16: 9 is also supported). Two cameras also have a hot shoe mount and built-in WiFi for connection to Yashika app.
Both cameras will be available in either black or white. The city will be available for purchase for $ 209 in 100 February 2025. The city will come in March 200 and will cost $ 249.
