How next season’s Formula E calendar is already shaping up

A return to Santiago and Cape Town, as well as new venues in Phoenix and Bangkok, are options being considered for the 2025-26 Formula E calendar.

Despite the current season being only one race old following the season opener in Sao Paulo last month, discussions are already heating up for the next campaign with a provisional calendar set to be announced in May.

Ahead of the Mexico City E-Prix on Saturday, Formula E Championship co-founder Alberto Longo confirmed to Autosport that talks are being held about returning to Chile.

The Santiago Street Circuit held the country’s inaugural race in 2018, before two more editions were held at the Parque O’Higgins Circuit in 2019 and 2020.

“We never say no to anything,” Longo said. “We are a global championship, we race on five continents, and we obviously want to expand the number of races, but I can’t tell you more about where and who we’re talking to. It is true that we are talking about Chile as well as 11 other cities.

“We will decide the calendar in May, so we are very close to that date to see which cities will create or shape the calendar for next season.”

As well as a return to Chile, another race in South Africa is also being seriously considered after the Cape Town street circuit holds its only race in 2023.

While the event was considered a success by drivers, teams and fans due to the circuit’s challenging nature and picturesque location, financial losses meant it was dropped from the calendar.

Autosport also understands that a new venue is being sought in the US which would be based in Phoenix on the circuit layout located in the city.

Formula E will visit Homestead-Miami Speedway for the first time in April and before that race meeting, an undisclosed event will also be held at the same venue.

While exact details are still being confirmed and are expected later this month, Autosport understands that social media influencers and celebrities will be given the chance to get behind the wheel of the Gen 3 Evo machines.

The date of 8 March was initially listed as TBC on the provisional 2024–25 calendar released by the championship, with a race in the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand, expected to fill the slot before a change in local government meant that That deal fell through.

Autosport understands that Formula E is still keen to hold races in the country, and the Thai capital has now been eyed as the location for next season’s event.
