The CEO of OM Systems has announced that the company is working on a new camera and lens. In A post titled In “New Year’s Greetings and Prospects for 2025” that ran Monday morning, Shigemi Sugimoto wrote: “Soon, we’ll be adding a new camera to our lineup and a bright, compact single-focal-length with splash- and dust-proof performance.” Planning to add lenses.
The post says the upcoming gear will be built to “stand up to the challenges of harsh outdoor environments,” in keeping with the company’s focus on outdoor landscape photography. However, Sugimoto also says it would also be useful for “authentic photographs of every day life”. The post also says that the company is continuing to work on a “long-awaited mid-range telephoto zoom lens.” has been on its lens roadmap for a while now. From the roadmap it appears it will be something like 40-150mm, although again, the company hasn’t released any concrete details. Sugimoto’s post suggests that the company is working to bring it to market “by the end of this year.”
