Costco cold treats recalled due to possible ‘contamination’

A notice shared on the retail giant’s website says the recall of Kirkland Signature Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion involves item number #1729556 with specific lot code P140082, sold at select locations in the Midwest and Southeast Was.

“Out of an abundance of caution, LNK has initiated a recall for the accidental release and shipment of a specific lot code that was rejected due to potential foreign material contamination,” the statement said.

The affected over-the-counter medications were purchased by customers between October 30 and November 30, 2024.

Consumers are asked not to use any leftover product with the lot code and return it to Costco for a full refund.

Last month, there were 8,640 boxes of Kirkland Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion Day and Night Packs Recalled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) The ingredient oral phenylephrine has been deemed “not effective” as a nasal decongestant after “comprehensive review”.

“This chemical has proven ineffective against colds and flu in its oral form, except in a single dose that has some cardiac toxicity and can cause palpitations, arrhythmias and high blood pressure,said Dr. Mark Siegel, senior medical analyst for Fox News.

The boxes of Kirkland Cold & Flu product recalled in December had lot numbers P139953 or P139815 with an expiration date of August 2026.
