“If you don’t have a dreamy layout, adding curtains can trick your eyes into thinking you have more windows,” says interior designer Beth Martin.
If you’re struggling with where to place the bed relative to the windows you have, using a curtain wall can be especially helpful in the bedroom.
“A wall of non-essential curtains will give your bedroom a canopy feel that’s luxurious and comfortable, and you can put your bedding where it works best,” says Martin.

The smartest reason to add a curtain wall to your home is to hide things you don’t want to see.
“Curtains are a great way to hide any ugly wall mishaps,” explains Martin. “Whether your wall texture is awkward or the unfortunate location of your breaker box, decorative curtains will intentionally soften the entire room.”
Choose an opaque curtain for this purpose, as transparent curtains will not do a very good job of hiding the wall or objects you want to hide from view.

A curtain wall can serve more than one purpose and accomplish it with style. Designer James Pierce Connelly says there’s no reason to skimp on your window treatments.
“Create an entire wall of curtains on your window wall,” he advises.
With curtains covering an entire wall, you’ll effectively block light, increase privacy and add drama to the space. A curtain wall used in this way provides a rich look when closed and can make a space feel private.

“A wall of curtains across the wall adds great texture and softness, and clears the entire space of clutter,” says Pierce Conley.

“This trend is growing because it is often more affordable than custom wall coverings or paneling,” says Jensen. “With the right planning, the same aesthetic can be achieved at a significantly lower cost by using curtains as a wall covering.”
