Augusto Fernandez will make Malaysia wildcard to accelerate Yamaha’s V4 progress


Yamaha’s MotoGP test rider Augusto Fernandez will compete in this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix in a bid to promote the Iwata-based manufacturer’s new V4 engine project.

Yamaha is trying to move forward with the development of an entirely new bike that would help convince Quartararo, whose contract expires at the end of next year, to make a significant move. Quartararo has already made it clear that if the Japanese brand does not improve next year he will look elsewhere on the grid.
