Samsung unveiled the new 200MP isocell HP5 sensor for the phone

Samsung has so far unveiled another 200MP smartphone image sensor, called Isosel HP5, claiming that it is the first in the world with 0.5 μm-shaped pixels.

HP5, despite having a small pixel shape, is said to distribute bright images in low-light conditions and overall better image quality. The sensor only measures 1/1.56-inch in size.

Samsung noted that it used techniques such as front deep trench isolation (FDTI) and dual vertical transfer gate (D-VTG) to allow each pixel to capture more light and expansion. Despite the small pixels, the sensor is claimed to avail better DTI Center Cut (DCC) technology to produce bright and clear images.

Samsung claims that the sensor conversion promotes 150% in the benefit and improves the reduction of 3 to 40% in random noise (RN) depending on the shooting position. ISOCELL HP5 provides up to 2x in-sensor zoom and 6X defective zoom when used with 3x telephoto lenses.

It supports Smart ISO Pro and stable HDR for better HDR performance. The sensor can shoot 4K videos at 120 FPS, 8K at 30 FPS and 1080p at 240 FPS. It also supports 8-bit, 10-bit, 12-bit and 14-bit raw formats.

The new 200MP sensor is already in large -scale production phase and is expected to be used in many upcoming phones, Such as Vivo Y500 Pro.
