The body of a stoveway has been found in a landing gear American Airlines Flight from Europe after arriving at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Northern Carolina, police have confirmed.
Maintenance staff found the body after 9 am on Sunday while serving the aircraft on Hanger Road within the airport division, Charlotte-Meclaneburg Police Department (CMPD) said in a statement.
Officials of CMPD Airport Division responded and pronounced the dead person at the scene.

The homeside unit of the department has opened an inquiry, in which crime visual search teams have collected evidence. Officials said CMPD Operations Command and Medicine also assisted.
“CLT Airport is aware of the tragic discovery of a dead person found in an American airlines aircraft this morning,” Charlotte Douglas Airport The spokesman said.

“We are very unhappy with this news and will support Charlotte-Meclanberg Police Department (CMPD) investigation as required.”
“We are working with law enforcement on its investigation,” American Airlines said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
The airline said: “A dead person was discovered inside one of the main landing gear coaches of one of our aircraft. Please direct any other question for local law enforcement.”
