Rale One E-Back Review: Redemption Tour

2023 The bankruptcy of Vanmoff has brought two good things. The first is all-new Vanmof S6 E-Back Recently launched under new ownership. The second is a new commuter e-bike developed by the late founders of Vanmoff for Rale, Tie and Taco Carlier,

Like a vanmoff, the rale one e-bike comes with the facilities of GPS tracking and an alarm, such as cable aluminum frames, detailed tires, mudguards, integrated lighting, and routed cables through haoling options required for daily commutes in a city. It is also packed with less complexity and services learned about serviceability, with a wife of off-the-shelf parts and a single-speed, belt-powered transmission connected to a rear-hub motor, with a battery can quickly be removed for indoor charging. Bikes also emit a pleasant sounds when things like working on powering, enabling lights and reducing security without safety Hey, look at me and my fancy bike Like the old vanmof of the old.

It’s a very simple vanomophy I always wanted the company to be builtOnly one thing is missing the boost button, which is a matter of shame.

I have been testing Rale one in the flat Amsterdam for the last few weeks. It is important to know that this single-speed e-bike produces a torque of just 35Nm from its 250W motor with a maximum speed of 25 km/h (16 mph). It is actually suffering on the hills without the boost button found on the vanmoff and the boost button found on Tenways cg009 It resembles e-bike.

Nevertheless, it is a very good e-bike priced for UK, Germany and Netherlands £ 2,399 / € 2,699 (approximately $ 3,000 USD). It is expensive for a rale, but it is still close € 2,681 average For European e-bikes and cheaper than local contestants such as cowboy and vanmof.

Good

  • Simple, single-motion belt drive
  • Removable battery
  • Decent range, fast charging
  • A very pleasant ride

bad

  • Weak 35Nm torque and no boost button
  • Very long frame for short riders
  • Software is a task in progress
  • Subscription upsel

Rale One is the first premium, which is associated with the way of establishing the British brand in 1887. Unfortunately, in 2025, Rale is essentially a logo at the top of a marketing strategy after several acquisitions and the closure of the factory. The brand is currently owned by Accell Group, an industry responsible for brands like Behemoth Batavus, Sparta, and Karkon’s electric cargo bike,

Most people who buy a rale will take delivery at a local bike shop, where it will be assembled and prepared for a handover. I said that I was sent to my house to test the direct-to-grade route. I was ready to ride in 30 minutes with the help of excellent illustrated instructions and efficient packing. This is sharp to a DTC e-bike!

Nearly silent Mivis motor, widening 27.5 x 2.2-inch innova tires, and 21 kg (46.3LBS) bikes combine to produce a strong ride. Pedle Asist feels comfortable, with gates carbon belt drives with force lacking with my feet. Tektro hydraulic disc brakes bring everything to a stop with confidence and control. Everything seems very serious, the fun is felt on more torque e-bikes.

Raley imposed a fine of up to five percent on the slope, allowing me to maintain a top speed 25 km/h without much effort from me. Single-speed transmission was completely defeated by 10 percent slopes in cities such as Lisbon and San Francisco. It was appropriate to start with a dead stop at three percent of the slope, but a strong push from my Quads was required. It was my test on the hills that really recalled me that boost button.

Integrated front and rear lighting.

Control and performance are simple and comfortable. This single red light tells me that the bike is armed.

A removable battery!

I felt comfortable riding at a speed of up to 30 km/h in a single gear, which was towards downhill without feeling like a clown. This is good because many single-speed belt-powered e-bikes will move your feet wildly at the speed that is high.

Rale has claimed a range of up to 80 km in the lowest pedal-astist mode, or is close to 50 km in maximum power. I conducted all my tests at five levels of five and managed 47.7 km before reducing the battery. Most of my range tests were placed in 10 to 15 knot headwinds, with an hour of e-bike firmware spent updating a problematic version of 1.8.0 more than 1.8.0 stable version of 1.9.0.

Battery recharged up to 50 percent in 55 minutes from the large 5A / 42V charging brick of the bike, 80 percent in 92 minutes, and full in 2 hours and 40 minutes – relatively rapid number for 360Wh battery.

The rale app is basic, but does what I want. The main position on the left is the screen, the dashboard displayed while riding on the right.

The rale app is basic, but does what I want. The main position on the left is the screen, the dashboard displayed while riding on the right.

The software on connected e-bikes needs to be strong as a vehicle and where the rale is currently slightly lower. My review bike is prone to a battery drain of about three percent every 24 hours when I am parked in my living room. Slight drain is common for connected e-bikes that regularly check the owner proximity and use GSM/GPS to track the location, but three percent (about 10.8W) is excessive. I also found the app a little buggy, sometimes “this operation cannot be completed”, displaying the error or remains unlike when it is open for a very long time. These issues are for a company that is highly dependent on the mastery of the software for the company offering subscription services. Accell is aware of the group issues and addressing my concerns.

“Our engineers are currently refining the Power Management algorithm,” says Darren Smith, Senior, Senior Class Manager of Accell Group. “A firmware update to customize this standby mode will be released soon, which will significantly reduce the battery drain, while the bike is useless without compromising its safety features.” Similarly, the insects I am seeing in the app are responsible for its connection status. “Our app team is implementing a more strong connection handling protocol to solve these specific bugs and an update addressing these stability points will be released very soon,” Smith says.

To be clear: You do not require a complete membership to ride the rale or apply firmware updates, but if it is stolen then you will not be able to track your bike. For that you have to pay € 7.99 per month, which you also get an alert sent on your phone, falls to alert the loved ones of an accident, and much more. You can also pay € 14.99 per month to add stolen insurance to rale calls “Peace of mind, A line lifted from vanmof – It lets you file a claim with Rale to handle the replacement of your stolen bike. Arrangeing stolen coverage from your e-bike company is definitely an easy route, but you will probably save some money Airbel And personal theft insurance, instead.

Membership sucks, but they are ideal for premium e-bikes. And with so many bike companies going down or posting strict losses, I am not going to disarray the business model of Accell Group. For all your resources, bicycle is not immune Bikeggedon’s army It took the vanmof and cake down, and almost erased cowboys, amplies, and many more European micromobility brands.

  • I like that the integrated front and rear lights of the bike can be set to turn on automatically when it is dark.
  • The display ring next to the left hand grip is useful and it is mostly visible in sunlight. Five light segments change color and consciousness to show battery levels, current power settings, alarm status, firmware updates, and more.
  • Integrated SP-Connect phone Mount requires a compatible case that you have to buy separately. I still like myself Loop micro,
  • Rale One is available in only one step-over frame with a height of 83 cm. I am six feet tall and can barely strades that top frame tube – this bike is only for long riders. If you are uncertain, arrange a test ride.

The ride is pleasant and serious, but does not have enough torque to call it fun.

Overall, I have a choice of £ 2,399 / € 2,699 rale for European travelers living in relatively flat cities. Certainly, I want the features of anti-chori not to be closed behind a membership and will benefit from a boost button to make the bike for your anemic torque. The passive battery drain will definitely be annoying if it is not fixed in future firmware updates as promised, but at least you can remove the battery and charge it inside. I also like that all those off-the-shelf parts can be serving in your local rale shop.

Yes, Carlier Brothers failed in Vanmoff, yet many lessons have been learned that Rale has been applied to one. But I have done it only for a few weeks and most e-bikes perform well when new. Let us see how this happens after months in the crowded bike racks, rain, dust, sand, ice, and sometimes falling or stealing. If it takes time for tie and taco at the redemption, then let’s see how things are going on in about a year, will we do?
