Project Description:
Place: Matosinhos, Portugal
From architect: ,Within a defined footprint, an unexpected shape is produced. The traditional sloping roof of the suburban house is reverse – one side is curved, the other is straightforward – forms a peculiar silhouette that disrupts the dull suburb. Volume resembles an explosion Box sitting on a translucent plinth. Separate -vertical and oblique surfaces are separated with different colors, each carefully chosen. Round and square windows puncture white canvas, three different heights; Some mimic face, some fictional animals. The fickle palette of the mask extends to the blue and green shutter, hide the opening and presents the house for a paper collage, where the colored figures are scattered in white. Canvas. Green, blue, light green, black, white and again green colors. Inside, the structure divorces itself from the wall: a sequence of five thin, light green concrete columns manifests itself in separate rooms, obstructing the daily routine. One of these columns is nothing on the roof. The place of living on the ground is open to the garden and is attached to the top office. The complexity of the sporadic internal is double-hit spaces, sometimes from the columns of concrete in the walls and the slowly sloping roof. On the top floor, the primary bedroom finds its place within an extraded quarter-circle space. The house is carefully assembled out of the surfaces – hard, folded, cut, curved, and bent – whether made from concrete, marble or glass brick. They divide, overlap, obstructive and cover. These surfaces are anchored by pillars that boldly punch. Interior space means between choreographed elements. The house figure is complete and broken simultaneously. ,
