It’s not hard to see how the flying duck orchid is (calena chief) earned its name. This orchid variety has deep, reddish brown flowers that outline the duck’s head, bill, outstretched wings, body and legs. The botanical name of the flower includes the designation ‘major’ because the flower of this orchid is larger than usual, which adds to the attractiveness of this variety.
