This week, James Ellen welcomed filmmaker and master storyteller Manish Pandey, who shot prominently with the award winner 2010 documentary SennaWhich he made with Asif Kapadia and James Gay Rees Drive to survive fame. Now he has again done it with a new film, Red watching redAbout one of the largest characters of F1, Luka de Montezemolo.
Di Montezemolo was only 28 years old when he won the 1975 F1 World Championship, which was the Ferrari team manager with Nikki Loda. He then returned to lead Ferrari’s Renaissance in the 1990s, which replaced the ‘Dream Team’ of Jean Tod, Ross Bron and Rory Bayran, which was dominated by F1 with Michael Schumacar. At the same time, he brought the magic back into Ferrari’s road car fleet.
Manish talked about what the army has done as a filmmaker, which is to tell the stories of Army, Eclestone and Di Montezamolo, what they have and how they have stories. He reveals the conversation that D Montezemolo and the army were about to join Ferrari in Great Brazil in 1994 and look at Ferrari and asks: How important is it that the person living on top of Ferrari loves F1?
