Tiles of different shapes – such as short classes with long rectangles – create rhythm and texture.
Many traditional tile patterns, including windmills, rely on combining rectangles, and squares, but you can easily invent your own until the shapes share the same ratio until the shapes share the same proportion (for example, 2-inch square with a 2-inch-4-inch rectangle). Even in the same color, the change in the scale keeps the surface visually attractive.
