Hot-warmth climate. Many bulbs, including favorite, such as daffodils and tulips, need to bloom winter cold. If you live in a warm area, you will need to buy your bulbs early in the season and chill them in your refrigerator for six weeks before planting.
While some bulbs that require a cold winter, can be riblimed when planted in the garden, will only produce leaves in several later years. To get a good show, consider treating bulbs such as annual.
Cold-Winter Climate. Winter Chil is not an issue for cold-hardened bulbs, but the freeze-and-pile cycles can harm them. If the ground will not be in snow or frozen, provide a layer of wet grass.
You may need to dig up tender bulbs such as Canna Lily, Dahly’s and Gladiolus, and can be overwinted in a cool, dry place.
