This USB-C hub of Acasis has a hidden advantage that on-the-go photographers will like

This always looks great when technical accessories take steps to be inexpensive solutions for uncomfortable parts of one’s workflow. This is a great example of all-in-one hub.

Ever since the USB-C computers have become universal interfaces for computer, mobile devices and even cameras, multicribute hubs are coming in different sizes and sizes. For most parts, they aim to connect all the accessories that use other ports from the device that only has a USB-C port. The large USB-A to HDMI, LAN, 3.5 mm audio ports, and easily SD and microSD card, all input goes directly to a single USB-C host cable that connects the device with everything. In recent months, the brands that manufacture these USB-C hubs have added a clean new feature on their hub, which allows the user to install M.2 NVME SSD on the hub, which makes it a portable SSD attachment for storage and on-a-go processing. Although it is virtually a combination of two different products, it can unknowingly provide a highly convenient solution that many photographers are searching.

In the last decade, most camera gear and technology directions have been to make things as portable and compact as possible. This benefits the creatives that go on long journey and external adventures, especially those who grow and camp for several consecutive days. While most of the camera gear options have achieved it to a significant extent, most of us have a major concern that is dealing with the concern of losing someone’s files with storage failure on the way. Because of this, several solutions have been offered to use laptops or to make it possible to backup without files.

One of the most notable solutions was GunarboxWhich had storage up to 2 TB and a dedicated memory card slot that could automatically return the card content without plugging into a host device. Being convenient, this was a completely more expensive option. Also, like hard drives Seagate’s DJI Fly Drive Offer an underlying microSD card reader on the drive for quick backup of drone images and footage. However, this still required a computer to back up and was limited to only microSD cards.

Unexpected solution: Acasis 10-in-1 USB Hub with NVME attachment

Acasis 10-in-1 USB-C Hub The NVMME is technically just a fusion of a SSD enclosure and USB hub, and the intention was very clearly to make the hub even more multicultural. This hub comes at 4.41 x 2.2 inches with a thickness of 0.75 inch. If necessary, it is designed from light aluminum designed to destroy heat and comes with a protective silicone rubber cover for shock absorption. Without an installed Nvme M.2, it weighs 145 grams.

On one of the small sides, it has a single host port to connect laptops or mobile devices such as phone or tablet, using the supplied USB-C cable. Also a PD is a Pasithrrow port that allows the user to charge the host device with inputs up to 100 W using the hub simultaneously.

In contrast, the miniature side is an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port that allows wired lan connections to the host device, even if it does not have the underlying Ethernet port. In addition it is a full -size HDMI port capable of supplying up to 4K60Hz output for a compatible display.

The top plate of the hub is divided into two parts. On one side is a USB 3.1 port combined with another USB 3.0 Type-A port, a USB-C 3.1 main data port capable of up to 10 GBPS, a pair of 3.5 mm audio/out port for headphones and/or microphones, and SD and MicroSD card readers. These ports are located on the upper part of the hub, plugs the cable and accessories in a vertical position, making it easier to place above the desk or flat surface.

The second half of the top plate is a removable lid that covers a single M.2 NVMMMMMMMMMMMM SSD slot and can be opened without the need for any equipment. This M.2 SSD is capable of reading/writing speeds up to 10 GBPS, although it is also dependent on the chosen SSD. The lock that secure the drive also uses rubber plugs instead of normal screws, which allows the drive to swap without the need for any equipment.

Application

Overall, this USB-C hub is simply more feature-pack we have done. It supports high-speed data transfer and usually provides most of the required input or output interfaces for goods we use on laptops and mobile devices. The joint of SSD enclosure expands this functionality. Instead of bringing and plugging into a separate drive, plugging in the hub immediately combines external storage with anything plugged into the ports and provides other input ports available for additional drives or accessories that can be used simultaneously.

On-a-go backup

As discussed at the beginning of this article, it makes SD and MicroSD card readers especially from the combination of USB-C HUB-and make it possible to upload and back uploading and back ups on the memory card on SSD directly installed without passing through internal storage of the attached device. This can also be done with just a smartphone, which allows the user to easily backup files without using the actual computer. This may not be wireless or as easy as a press of a button, as offered previous options, but it makes something that used to be easy for a very low cost and now free from trouble.
