Piastry ‘not comfortable’ with a gap on Noris in F1 2025 title fight

But Australian does not feel that its difference is quite large, yet the title to feel comfortable in the run-in.

“No, I don’t think so. Still have a long way to go,” he said. “I need to push and try to run. I am still trying to win the race.

Piastry made a difference in Saturday’s Q3 to deny the Noris Poll 0.012 by getting enough laptymes, and said he was satisfied that he was able to find a marginal benefit on Saturday.

“This week was the key to qualifying,” he said. “Through the free practice sessions, it seemed like a difficult zandwort again, but we ran away, tried to find time, shifted the car here.

“I really tried to improve how I was driving because, let’s be honest, it is very difficult to complain about the car we got. So I just tried to chip on it and it was good when it matters.

“And through the race today, I felt that I also had a good speed and was used when I needed, so I was proud of myself first, but around 12 months ago, the entire team around me to turn it around.”

He said: “It was actually a good race. Obviously, restarts are always difficult moments to be right, but I felt in control the whole time. Obviously, the end for the lands was unfortunate and the team did not have one or two when I think we were really entitled to it.

“But from my side, I am very proud of the week we kept together, when it matters it is hurrying.”
