Mercedes Boss Toto Wolf jokingly stated that it will be like a ‘mafia reunion’ that Christian Hornener, Berney Ecleton and Flavio Brytor should combine for a ownership share in a ownership Alpine Formula 1 outfit.
Horner was dismissed as Red Bull Team Principal in July And his next step is not yet known, but Padock rumors have suggested that the 51 -year -old wants to invest in an F1 team.
Alpine has been seen as a real possibility due to his friendship with Executive Advisor Brytor, who can serve as an investor supporting Horner’s bid with the East-F1 boss Eclestone.
“This will be an exciting story, I think, and will create a lot of discussion around Formula 1,” Volf said on Friday during the Dutch Grand Prix Weekend.
“I think we need it. Formula 1 has always been about the best racing with exciting drivers and great personalities.
“I think when you look at the grand era of team owners and team principals – Frank Williams And Ron Dennis, Flavio, (Luka de) Montezemolo and some others – perhaps we need to work on it.
“If there were an exciting such an exciting project, these three people were coming together, all the mafia got again, which will give good material.”

The Renault Group is the owner of the majority stake in the Alpine F1 team, but is related to the 24% US-based investment firm Otro Capital, which includes several high-profile athletes such as Anthony Joshua, Trent Alexander-Aranold and Rory McLoy. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McCaleni are also part of the Consortium.
So Horner, Eclastone and Brytor team will not be the first famous person to claim minority ownership, but Brytor denied any opportunity to happen.
“I am not considering anything at this moment,” Brytor said, who led the Renault to win the F1 championships in 2005 and 2006.
“Christian is not in Formula 1 at this moment, I hope he will return soon, but at the moment he is not in the picture of Alpine.”
