Hasselblad has announced the XCD 35–100 mm F2.8-4 E, a medium format zoom lens, with a full-frame equal to 28–76 mm range. Its range and speed make it similar to the 24–70 mm “standard zoom” popular on full-frame system, making it a versatile option for the system.
The lens is composed of 16 elements in 13 groups, with three espherical lenses and five additional spread elements. It has a minimum focused distance of 0.4m (15.7 “) at the broad end and 0.5m (19.7”) at the long end.
Hasselblad says that 35–100 mm F2.8-4 is the second entry for its ‘E’ series, which states that “perform exceptionally well in focal lengths.” It follows Wide-Angle 20-35 mm zoom company Released last year,
Lens X2D II supports continuous autofocus mode of 100C
It has a staper motor for autofocus, and the X2D II supports the continuous autofocus capabilities of 100C that is being launched with it. Its built-in leaf shutter can shoot and sync with flash for 1/4000 seconds. To change its aperture setting, its zoom and focus are a control ring to replace rings.
At 894G (31.5Oz), there is no 35–100 mm ultra-lightweight, especially if you compare it with the latest generation full-frame 24–70 mm F2.8s with Sony and Nikon’s choice. However, given that it covers a large image circle and provides a depth of an area equal to a sharp lens in the small end (2.2 – 3.2), its weight is surprisingly similar to those companies’ first – Zeen Mirrorless standard zoom. This is a similar story when it comes to its physical size.

The new XCD 2,8-4/35-100 is a versatile standard zoom lens that bridges a wide angle for medium telephoto focal length in general. With approximately 3 × optical zoom, it offers 28–76 mm full-frame equivalent focal length and a aperture range of F/4 to F/4. In one, by effectively by combining the range of seven Hasellad Prime lenses, it attains excellence in capturing the moments of spontaneous travel with wider landscape, intimate images, dynamic road photography and confidence.
In its broader aperture of f/2,8, the lens performs exceptional low light, while smooth, creamy bokeh and specific background produce separation.
The XCD 2,8–4/35–100E stood for “E” “exclusive” and represents top-level optical performance, providing the same edge-to-edge-edge quality as XCD prime lens of hasselblad. Its advanced optical design contains 16 elements in 13 groups, including three asphyxial and five ED elements, which ensure sharp resolution and authentic colors that meet the demands of a 100-megapixel sensor.
The XCD 2,8–4/35-100 is powered by the fastest stepping motor in the XCD lens lineup. This compact internal focusing group, which is combined with customized control algorithms, enables smooth and accurate autofocus. When the X2D II is paired with the AF-C system of 100C, it tracks confident subjects and focuses accurately in action shots.
The integrated leaf shutter provides full flash synchronization from 1/4000 seconds to 68 minutes, allowing photographers to balance the flash in bright light or open open shoots without any compromise.
Despite its bright aperture and extended zoom range, the lens remains significantly compact, measures just 138 mm in length and weighs just 894 grams. It has highly admired control rings from the XCD V series lens, allowing quick adjustments for shutter speed, aperture, ISO, exposure compensation and subject switching. The “H” logo and micro “V” insignia engraved on control rings reflect the minimum design and commitment of permanent quality of the Isselbad, creating a lens that it appears.
