Once available, open a conversation in Google messages and open the details page by tapping their name in the app bar. The end-to-end encryption card has been around for some time, but before tapping “verify encryption”, a page was opened with only 80 digit code before tapping.
Now, “Safety and Privacy” sheet is provided to you to “verify the keys for this contact. Google provides a lecturer:
- Why verify the keys? This helps to ensure that only you and your contact can read the RCS messages you sent
- How to verify the keys: Scan the QR code on your contact device. Then ask them to scan the QR code on you.
- Verification status: You can see the situation for verified keys by visiting “connected apps” in the contact app
Tapping “Your QR Code” opens “verification for Google messages”. As of now, the above Google Contact App Integration is not yet live.
However, the sheet has its own “scan contacts QR code” option that opens the Android system key verification application that is already installed on your device.

If you tap “Comparison Code” on the sheet, the old 80-conductive option is available.
We are seeing this QR code key verification with the latest Google messages BetaIt is not yet visible on a stable channel. Google said last year that it is coming for Android 9+ devices in 2025. This “integrated system for public key verification” will also be available for third-party application.
